CHARLOTTE  GERMANE  LEGAL  SEARCH
Placing intellectual property attorneys and patent agents with  California corporations
and law firms for over 20 years
For corporations

What’s your most valuable asset? If you’re a technology company it’s probably your intellectual property.

Charlotte Germane Legal Search specializes in locating the intellectual property attorneys who will be your first line of defense in protecting that asset. Intellectual property attorneys can keep you out of “bet-the-company” lawsuits and maximize the value of your company today and going forward.

Most corporations hire intellectual property attorneys infrequently. Charlotte has 20+ years of experience at your disposal to help you evaluate your intellectual property needs, and to suggest job descriptions, titles and career paths for attorneys to grow with your company.

Attorneys are high-priced employees — patent attorneys even more so. As no doubt you know, they are unique in needing to have:

1)  Special pre-law science or engineering degrees

2)  Two licenses—admission to a state bar and registration to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office

There aren’t enough patent attorneys to meet demand and they command high salaries. Charlotte can provide you with detailed salary surveys in your technological and geographic areas so that you will be able to offer a competitive compensation package of salary and stock.

For more than 20 years Charlotte has been placing patent, trademark and copyright attorneys and patent agents with California companies. A native of Palo Alto, Charlotte has close ties to Northern California businesses.  With a B.A. from Stanford and a J.D. from the University of Virginia, she worked in prominent Silicon Valley and Los Angeles law firms and understands the technology community. Her clients include the giants of Silicon Valley and Southern California, as well as start-ups in Silicon Valley, Orange County and San Diego, covering all technology areas.

Each company calls for an attorney with different technological expertise, skills and personality. Some attorneys are excited to be the first lawyer in the go-go atmosphere of a start-up, and others are happiest in the large legal department of an established company.

Charlotte has contacts with intellectual property attorneys who specialize in different technologies and can quickly find local attorneys with the expertise you need.  She’s also part of a national team of experienced legal recruiters who can present candidates from other states, if you are willing to relocate an attorney.

When conducting the search, Charlotte will meet with Human Resources and the appropriate legal and management officers to learn as much as possible about your company. She will submit only those candidates who have the requisite technology background, legal experience, and personality type to contribute to your team. You’ll receive resumes with frank cover letters and your feedback will affect the course of the search. Charlotte has close communication with candidates and serves as an intermediary during the search and the offer process.

If you don’t have a standard contingency fee agreement then Charlotte can provide her own. The terms of engagement are 25% of the first year’s salary. Charlotte can devote additional time to the search if she’s given a 90-day exclusive.

Charlotte looks forward to getting to know your management style and technology. Please call her at 650-326-3084 or write to cg@GermaneLegalSearch.com.
